WH CH 3
I learned in chapter three that during New Kingdom Egypt (1473-1458 B.C.E) only one women took the Egyptian throne. The women name was Hatshepsut, she took the position after her husband died. She often sent expeditions down the red sea in search for Myrrh. Myrrh is a reddish brown resin from hardened sap of a local tree in Punt which Egyptians burned at alters of their gods, they used it for medicine and cosmetics as well. Evidence show that their was opposition for having a women as a ruler. Her image was frequently defaced after her death mostly by officials.
